Responding to a housing offer
When an available housing matches your criteria and seniority, we will send you a housing offer that you need to respond to, letting us know if you want the apartment or not.
How do I respond to a housing offer?
If you have signed up for our online self-service Mit KAB (Danish only), you can login and respond with a single click.
You can also fill out and sign the form you received with the housing offer. The form can either be scanned/photographed and e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or sent by regular post to KAB, Vester Voldgade 17, 1552 København V.
When will I know if I get to rent the apartment?
If you say yes to a housing offer, you are not guaranteed the apartment. The housing offer is sent to several people on the waiting list and will be offered to the one with highest seniority.
If we have not phoned you within 10 days after the deadline for responses, someone else with more seniority has been offered the apartment.
Can I decline a housing offer?
Yes, but there are some limitations depending on how many times you turn down an offer within a given period.
If you decline a housing offer 3 times
If you decline or fail to respond to 3 housing offers within 3 months, you will receive a letter or e-mail asking you to adjust your housing preferences (boligønsker) in Mit KAB.
If you decline a housing offer 6 times
If you decline or fail to respond to another 3 housing offers (6 in total), you will receive a new letter or e-mail informing you that your waiting list number has been paused. You will not receive any more offers until you re-activate your “boligsøgning” in Mit KAB. You will keep your seniority on the waiting list, and your waiting list number will not be deleted.
Especially for student housing
Your waiting list number will be paused after 1 decline/fail to respond. You can always re-activate your “boligsøgning” in Mit KAB.
If you decline or fail to respond to 2 housing offers from the same department, the department will be removed from your waiting list. If there are no more departments on your waiting list, it will be deleted.
